so i was just wondering if anyone has experienced problems with stereotypes of LGBT people

i've had people not believe me when i came out, because i don't fit into some stereotype.

has anyone else had experiences like this? or anything else about stereotypes? i think its a topic that isn't discussed enough/

Ehh, not really. If I felt weirdness, it came from my ex. I felt like I was either a femme guy or a stereotypically macho one; which I'm not at all (like I was expected to conform to one or the other).

I don't know if this counts at all, but like, ok.

My girlfriend has short hair and wears guys clothes and shoes and what not.
I have long hair and I sometimes wear girls clothes and I carry a purse and all.

People assume she's the "man" of the relationship but I am. So that form of stereotype doesn't fit us. I dunno. I guess I don't really understand the point of the topic?

I don't know if this is a PROBLEM per se, but whenever I come out to someone, they're usually like "oh, i knew that from the first time I saw you" or "well, that's obvious, i mean, you're practically a guy!"

It used to bother me, and it sort of still does, that people think lesbians have to look like guys, and if a girl dresses masculine or whatever, that automatically makes her a lesbian... but, tbh, I find it really funny when I get that reaction now, coz it's just so dumb!

This is along the lines of that. "But you wear dresses and makeup, you can't be gay!" (this hasn't been said to ME, because I wear neither, but i've heard people say it to others)

"You've never been with a guy so how do you know you're a lesbian?"

STFU.
